bolt§10.⏩Momentum Track mechanic

The flow of battle is tracked on the War Slate using the Momentum Track. This is a slider that begins at a central "0" position and can move up to 2 spaces toward each player.

Immediately after any Action or effect is resolved, you must check the Gaining Momentum Procedure (GMP) see if ⏩Momentum was generated.

⏩Momentum Bonus

⏩Momentum Space: 2

This effect triggers after the end of the Action, Ability, Spell, ♟️Gambit or Divine Will that causes the Momentum slider to reach the 2 space on a player's side.

  • Reward: The player who triggered this effect has available Single-Die Reroll during each Attack Test Procedure in which one of their Units is participating.

  • Duration: This effect remains active as long as the Momentum slider stays on the 2 space on that player's side. If the slider moves to any other space, the effect immediately ends.

⏩Momentum Space: exceeds 2+

The track's special effects trigger after the end of Action, Ability, Spell, ♟️Gambit or Divine Will that caused a player's Momentum value to become greater than 2. The following happens:

1

Reward

The player who triggered the effect may immediately chose one of fallowing:

  • Perform a 1-hex Displacement with one of their Friendly units.

NOTE: The chosen Unit can be already Activated or have not yet Activated this Round. If a Unit has not yet Activated, being Displaced does not use up its Activation.

  • Put 🟡Boost token on any Friendly unit.

2

Consolation

The opposing player immediately gains +1 ⚜️Command Seal.

3

Reset slider

Then the slider is immediately returned to the 0 position.

Designer's Note: This reset to the '0' position happens regardless of how many ⏩Momentum points you gained in excess of 2.

For example, if your slider was at '1' and you completed an Action that generated +3 ⏩Momentum, your value "overshoots" to 4. You still trigger this Procedure only once (gaining one Displacement and your opponent gaining one ⚜️CS), and the slider resets directly to '0', not to '1' or '2'.
